The Greenbits REST API is gone: Dutchie ended API and login access on February 1, 2026. The former surface covered inventory, customers, products, and menu-feed webhooks under token auth. Historical data is now a paid Dutchie support request, and migration means a rebuild on Dutchie's POS API.
Greenbits scores A on the API Report Card.
Greenbits has a workable official integration path. Most engineering teams can build against it directly. Open API: self-serve, documented, with SDKs
Greenbits (originally Green Bits) was a cannabis-vertical point-of-sale and compliance platform built for licensed dispensaries in the United States.
Vertical SaaS for U.S. state-licensed cannabis dispensaries (medical and adult-use). While live, a typical day on Greenbits looked like: budtenders ringing transactions at register terminals with integrated age/ID verification; inventory clerks receiving cultivator/distributor shipments and labeling packages against METRC tags; the system auto-reporting sales and inventory adjustments to state traceability (METRC / BioTrack / Leaf Data Systems); online menu sync to Weedmaps, Jane, and other marketplaces via API; loyalty/customer data sync to springbig, AlpineIQ, Headset, and Surfside; end-of-day Z-out reconciliation against integrated payment processors; and monthly excise/sales-tax reporting.
Low and falling. At its 2019-2021 peak, Greenbits publicly cited 1,200+ dispensary locations and was one of the top three or four cannabis POS systems alongside Flowhub, Cova, and LeafLogix.
Transaction-level sales history (line items, taxes, discounts, budtender, timestamp), customer profiles (contact info, birth date for age verification, loyalty balances), real-time inventory by SKU/package/lot with cannabis test results (THC/CBD potency), product catalog with pricing tiers and cannabinoid data, taxonomy (brands, strains, product types), location/place inventory storage status, METRC/BioTrack/Leaf Data Systems compliance audit trails, payment-processor settlement data, and excise/sales-tax records.
Founded 2014 in San Francisco by Ben Curren, Brad Bogus, and Kevin Brusky as one of the first dedicated cannabis-retail POS systems. Raised ~$26M in venture funding (Casa Verde Capital, Tao Capital, others) before being acquired by Dutchie in 2021.
API and login access end February 1, 2026, any integration pulling from api.greenbits.com after that date will fail, and historical data retrieval becomes a paid Dutchie support request. Rate limits and webhook delivery guarantees are not transparently documented in the public developer portal; integrators discover them through support. Full sourced list under Sources below.

Grades measure one thing: can a customer's engineering team get their own data out programmatically? We check six things (whether a real API exists, how access is gated, data coverage, auth quality, docs and developer experience, and stability) and roll them into a letter grade. Grades get re-verified, and they only move on evidence.
