PatientNow documents three REST APIs (Essentials, VISH, Pro) with webhooks on Essentials. Keys are not self-created: Essentials credentials sit in the customer's account page with a vendor-issued gateway key, Pro keys come from the PatientNow team, and there is no sandbox.
PatientNow scores C on Supergood's API Report Card.
PatientNow has an official API, but teams routinely hit its limits: gated access, partial coverage, or paid tiers. Most end up supplementing it with exports or an unofficial API layer like Supergood. Site terms may apply to any integration approach, and how they apply is a determination each team makes for itself.
PatientNow is an EMR, practice management and patient engagement platform for medical aesthetics and elective care: plastic surgery, dermatology, med spas, and wellness. The company was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Greenwood Village (Englewood), Colorado.
Healthcare, aesthetic and elective medicine. Plastic surgeons, cosmetic dermatologists, med spas, and salon and wellness businesses (through Essentials), mostly in the US and Canada, from single-provider clinics to multi-location groups. Front desk staff schedule consults and procedures, manage waitlists and online booking, and collect payments and CareCredit financing at checkout.
PatientNow has been an aesthetic EMR since 2004 and, through the EnvisionNow, RxPhoto and Crystal Clear roll-up backed by PSG, spans EMR, photography, marketing and payments for the category (https://www.patientnow.com/company/).
Patient demographics and contact details (PII), clinical notes, injectable and laser treatment records, vitals, allergies, medications and clinical photos (PHI), appointment schedules, quotes, invoices, orders and memberships, stored payment methods through PatientNow Payments (PCI scope), inventory, employee time cards and schedules, and marketing leads and opt-ins.
Founded 2004; the Pro product is a long-lived EMR whose users describe it as feeling like an old DOS system with too many clicks. Essentials inherits the EnvisionNow codebase (Orlando, founded 2001).
Practice contracted for charting because it was told PatientNow would integrate with Nextech, then the integration was not delivered and the practice went three months without a working system. PatientNow and RxPhoto were built by different companies and their systems do not communicate with one another. Full sourced list under Sources below.
Common alternatives include Nextech, Aesthetic Record, Zenoti, Symplast, AestheticsPro. Graded alternatives appear under "More from the report card" below.
Supergood's grades measure one thing: can a customer's engineering team get their own data out programmatically? Supergood checks six things (whether a real API exists, how access is gated, data coverage, auth quality, docs and developer experience, and stability) and rolls them into a letter grade. Supergood re-verifies grades, and they only move on evidence.
Not that we could find. There is no official PatientNow MCP server in any public registry, and no maintained community server we're aware of. We re-verify this periodically — report an inaccuracy below if we missed one.
Not natively. PatientNow doesn't publish an MCP server, so MCP clients like Claude, Cursor, and Codex have nothing to connect to out of the box. If that changes, this page will reflect it.
