UpCounsel is a second-generation Web 2.0 legal marketplace, incorporated in August 2012 out of the AngelPad incubator, raised ~$13.9M across three rounds (Homebrew $1.5M seed 2013, Metamorphic/Crosslink $2.4M seed 2014, Menlo Ventures $10M Series A 2015), grew to 25,000+ attorneys and 18,000+ companies by 2019, came within days of shutdown in February 2020 (after a contemplated LinkedIn data-transfer deal and an ~88% shareholder approval to close), and was acquired by Enduring Ventures on March 31, 2020, with Xavier Helgesen as acting CEO and Sieva Kozinsky as CFO.

Supergood's grades measure one thing: can a customer's engineering team get their own data out programmatically? Supergood checks six things (whether a real API exists, how access is gated, data coverage, auth quality, docs and developer experience, and stability) and rolls them into a letter grade. Not natively. UpCounsel doesn't publish an MCP server, so MCP clients like Claude, Cursor, and Codex have nothing to connect to out of the box. If that changes, this page will reflect it.
